A nice book to help lend perspective to a preschooler and teaches them sometimes they have to wait.
A little girl whose hapless father has locked his keys in the car. As he struggles with a wire hanger and the sky threatens to storm, she comes up with a singing-in-the-rain plan of action. With the help of a friendly German Shepherd, a grocer, a white cat, a butterfly, and a locksmith.

This story will really make your preschooler think as all of the actions are independent upon the next. It also is written in a really nice singsong rhyme: “The car gets unlocked, jangle-me jome/The car gets unlocked, and we drive home.”

My son was playing picnic for weeks after we read this book. It’s a really great book for inspiring imaginative play.
Temporarily escaping their humdrum life, two guinea pigs scurry through an open cage door, scramble through comfortably furnished rooms, climb atop a pool table, and find their bliss racing round and round its tunnels.

A cute book especially if you have guinea pigs. It’s one of those stories that shows kids lots can happen when they’re not around.
A boy sets out to sail his boat in a puddle and is joined by a frog, a turtle, an alligator, a pig, and an elephant.

This is a great book for inspiring a child’s imagination. The protagonist is told not to get wet but the animals make sure he does. It also shows time and effect as the puddle changes with each animal encounter.
